Givex Reforestation Program Plants 2,875 More Trees in B.C. to Offset Emissions from Gift Card Production

June 18, 2009 (Toronto, Canada) - Givex, a global provider of closed loop card technologies including gift, loyalty and other stored value programs, announced today the planting of 2,875 trees in British Columbia by Tree Canada as part of Givex’s 2009 reforestation program.

With every client order, the program plants trees to offset emissions created by  production of gift and loyalty cards. This is the second year that Givex has planted trees near Kamloops, B.C., to heal damage from a 2003 wildfire and 15 years of Mountain Pine Beetle infestations.

"Even when the economy is uncertain, environmental responsibility remains crucial," says Karen Budahazy, Executive Vice President, Givex. "We’re pleased to give our clients more ways to reduce their carbon footprint. We also offer eco-friendly alternatives such as recycled PVC instead of regular PVC."

"We’re excited about Givex’s continued support," says Michael Rosen, Tree Canada President. "It sends a positive message about protecting the environment. We hope more organizations step forward to become part of the effort to restore Canada’s forests."
