Corporate Responsibility

Givex Goes Green

Givex has changed the way we operate to be more environmentally responsible, an ideal we share with our suppliers and partners. We are proud to offer our customers more environmentally friendly product options, such as cards containing recycled material and PLA (corn-based plastic) cards instead of traditional PVC. Greener card products help our clients with their environmental initiatives and contribute to positive change in manufacturing. We listen to our clients to develop our eco-friendly product list.

Some of our eco-friendly products include:

  • Recycled PVC cards
  • PLA cards
  • Paper stock cards
  • Soy-based inks for gift card carrier
  • Recycled material for gift card carrier

We are even developing a new service for clients to shred and recycle deactivated cards. Givex continuously rethinks how we operate and looks for ways we can do better for the environment.

Childhood education is critical to transforming war-torn and impoverished regions of the world. If these communities could provide educational opportunities for their children, not only would they be able to break out of the cycle of poverty but also deal with one of the root causes of conflict.

At the forefront of this fight is Central Asia Institute (CAI), a nonprofit organization that partners with local communities to build schools and provide education for children, especially girls, in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Givex is proud to be a supporter of CAI and its work. Education empowers people to support their families and elevate their communities. This is particularly true for girls, who face a lifetime of limited options without it. By helping grow stable economies and reduce conflict, education benefits developing nations and the rest of the world as well.

As of 2010, Central Asia Institute has successfully established over 170 schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan, and provided education to over 68,000 students, with an emphasis on girls’ education.

The two-decade journey of the Central Asia Institute, from vision to reality, is chronicled in the bestselling books Three Cups of Tea: One Man’s Mission to Promote Peace, One School At A Time and Stones into Schools: Promoting Peace through Education in Afghanistan and Pakistan, written by CAI co-founder Greg Mortensen.
